To my mother Maria Lauretta Roman or “Mama May,” as she was affectionately known, lived a remarkable life rooted in unwavering faith, unconditional love, and selfless service.
A devoted minister of God, compassionate counsellor, dedicated teacher, and trusted mentor, she touched countless lives through her kindness, wisdom, and steadfast devotion to Christ. She was a pillar of strength to many and a mother figure to everyone blessed to know her.
She faithfully embraced every role that God entrusted to her. She was a loving wife, devoted mother, cherished grandmother, treasured great-grandmother, caring aunt, supportive sister, and to so many others, a loyal and dependable friend.
Her home was always a place of warmth, encouragement, and heartfelt prayer, where family, friends, and strangers alike found comfort, hope, and acceptance.
With wisdom, grace, and unwavering prayers, she counselled the broken hearted, uplifted the discouraged, taught the Word of God with conviction, and continually pointed others to Christ. Her quiet strength, gentle spirit, and steadfast faith inspired everyone around her to trust in God’s promises.
She served with humility, loved without reservation, and gave generously of herself, leaving an enduring legacy of compassion and faithfulness. She finished her earthly journey praying, just as she had faithfully lived each day in complete dependence on the Lord she loved and served.
Though absent from the body, she is present with the Lord. Her faith continues to inspire us, her love still comforts us, and her strength remains a guiding example. While her voice may no longer be heard, the lessons she taught, the prayers she offered, and the lives she influenced will continue to echo through generations.
Her memory will forever be cherished, and her legacy of faith, love, and service will remain alive in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory her brothers, Michael and Samuel; sisters, Dorothy Roman and Evelyn Richards; several nieces and nephews including Alicia Williams, Daniel Richards, Naomi Roman, Joshua Grant, Melissa Clarke, and Nathan Clarke; along with many other beloved relatives, close friends, church family, and all whose lives were enriched by her love, kindness, faithful prayers, and unwavering Christian example.

Forever in our hearts, we can’t easily forget you.
Scripture declares that the memory of the just is blessed.
That’s our affirmation about you.
I am still struggling to come to terms with your passing, Mrs. Roman. It doesn’t feel real. You were more than a former colleague; you were a kind, thoughtful soul who never failed to send me a Happy New Month message, always with prayers and words of encouragement. Those simple acts of kindness meant so much to me.
You were truly a woman of God, and your life reflected His love and grace. Though I may never understand why you were called home so soon, I trust that God knows best.
Thank you for your kindness, your prayers, and the beautiful example you left behind. You are deeply missed, fondly remembered, and will forever hold a special place in my heart.
Rest peacefully. Gone too soon, never forgotten.
